Help Yourself Grow was a scheme created in 2012 as part of the social enterprise Fair Deal. Help Yourself Grow was created in order to provide a meaningful and enjoyable learning experience for 18-30 year olds with a learning disability in Glasgow and that aim still remains today. It is a free service designed so that individuals who use it can feel fulfilled as they see real enhancement and progress in their skills as well as having quality social time.
We provide a fun, practical experience for any individuals involved whether that be gardening training or cooking training. Training provided is flexible and is tailored to the individual support needs of each user of the scheme.
Help Yourself Grow was the winner of the Evening Times Community Champions Award for 2013. We also won a variety of other awards at the Gardening Scotland Event in 2013.
HYG has run the gardening and cooking classes every year with a graduation ceremony at the end for the participants in the course. You can look back at previous years here:
