Who is eligible to take part in Help Yourself Grow?

You are eligible if you are aged 18-35 and have a learning disability.

Where and when do the cooking classes take place?

The cooking classes are run every Wednesday and Thursday from 9.45am till 1pm at the Kinning Park Complex, 43 Cornwall St, Glasgow G41 1BA.

Where and when do the gardening classes take place?

The gardening classes are in our own dedicated space at the Jeely Piece Training Garden, Jeely Play Zone, 55 Machrie Drive, Castlemilk, G45 0AL. They run on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9.45am till 3.15pm. We have a large Portacabin, geodesic dome and have recently installed a large polytunnel so we can garden in all weathers!

Do you provide transport?

No, however there are good transport links from Glasgow city centre. Contact Gail if you need more information or support with this.

How much does it cost?

Please contact Gail using our Contact Us page for details on cost and funding. Some free places may be available for those who meet the eligibility criteria.

How do I volunteer with Help Yourself Grow?

We welcome volunteers to help us run our classes. Please take a look at our Volunteering page and contact us for more information.

Can I visit the classes before signing up?

Absolutely! We’d be delighted to show you around. Please get in touch to arrange a visit.

Do I need any specialist equipment or clothing to take part?

No! All we ask is you wear weather-appropriate clothing for the gardening classes (we do have some waterproof clothing and safety boots available). We also have a number of HYG aprons to keep your clothes clean in our kitchen!
